An old Southern Cross windmill stands unused and abandoned in the middle of a canola crop. Since 1903, these windmills have stood proud right across rural Australia and still play a critical part in providing water for livestock in our parched landscape. They speak to me strongly of growing up on the land and the challenges faced in our hash but stunning country.
