ABOUT BRIAN
I grew up on rural properties in northern New South Wales, and although I left there for the bright lights of Sydney and Brisbane (and now reside in Melbourne), I still live my best life outside a city. My first jobs included working with computers the size of a large room and serving colourful patrons in some of Brisbane’s best watering holes (I remember Keith Urban's early days, performing in a bar at the Mayfair Crest Hotel when he was just a Caboolture lad with a guitar).
Eventually I found my way into technical event production, delivering key moments ranging from government trade forums in China to the Centenary of the Army in some of Australia's top convention centres and venues, including the National Museum of Australia and the National Convention Centre in Canberra. Over the years I realised and honed my innate visual skills through designing and delivering the tech side of many, many corporate and cultural events and exhibitions.
I look back now with satisfaction at the contributions I was able to make to so many exciting moments for so many people in different venues. And I have my own collection of memorable moments, too, from receiving thank-you chocolates from the late Barry Humphries to staging a premiere concert of a new work with Elena Katz-Chernin in the National Museum's main foyer. (I still have Elena’s autographed CD, but Barry’s chocolates didn’t last as long.)
Now that those adventurous, often surprising (and frequently stressful) days are over, I’ve turned my visual eye to capturing the pauses, the moments, of life in my personal passion project, Brian Ellwood Moments. I hope you'll enjoy a moment with me.
